I know it is that time if year...but I'm fed up of it. Past month I've had constant congested sinuses, runny and/or blocked up nose and feeling of cattarh in my throat.

Apart from fast forwarding to summer is there ANYTHING I can do to clear it up??

Antihistimines. Max dosage. Great for clearing up phelmn.

Might be worth seeing GP, I've been put on a steroid nasal spray to minimise sinus trouble and it really has made a difference, used to get sinus infection every time I had a cold but don't now.

Thanks both for your replies. Good to know that there are things to try. Other than just moaning about it and longing for summer!

Will try both I think.

I had bad sinus infection from Christmas. Two lots of AB's later I also had chest infection and ear infection.Went again to GP as just couldn't stand it anymore as well as trying to work. Given different AB and steriod nasal spray, it is now finally going and so is everything else. I have bought a neti pot as friend advised and this is what I am going to use as soon as I feel a cold coming.I had never heard of it before but this clears the nose a treat. Easy bought off ebay. Hope you are better soon we might wait ages for summer!

Nasal drop are better than sprays. Octive??? is a very short steriod prep and works wonders. Drops are now known to work better as sprays seem to burn the nose and can make it worse.

You can also buy salted water drops over the counter. The art is to make sure you lie on the bed and drop head over touching the floor. This way the drops stay in the nasal passages and not flow to the back of your throat.

I also find the congestion tablets good (try cheaper brands from Wilkinson - Sudafed type).

Done anthistimines and dont work for me.

I heard about neti pots too - but worry I will drown myself and DH will be too busy laughing to resuscitate me! Have you tried it yet nanatothree?

Good idea on the drops too. Sure I had those as a child. Just the mention brings back a memory of the taste in the back of my throat.....

Yes just had to try new neti pot. Never heard of them before!! Bit nervous beforehand as had dread of salty water going down my throat but with head on one side and mouth open (dont ask me why you have to do this) you pour the water in one nostril and it comes out of the other, then repeat. Because you use warm water it is not unpleasant and it does clear the nasal passages. Wouldn't do this with an audience - privacy in the bathroom a necessity.

Meant to add you use the neti pot standing up leaning over the bathroom sink NOT lying down.
