Has anyone had Coccydynia?

I think it's possible I have this (yes self diagnosing), will book an appointment at Gp tomorrow.

Has anyone had this and it's gone away on its own or have you had to have treatment? Just wondered what I was up against if I do have it.

Thanks

I broke (well James Vincent broke it when he pushed me off the climbing fort) my coccyx in year 7 (1991) and it still hurts now if I have to sit still for an extended period of time (long haul flights, exams, movies etc). It healed slightly wonky so that is why it hurts but it does not stop me doing anything.

Thanks for the replies!

That sounds painful to break or fracture it. I haven't fallen over(unless I was drunk and forgot) but from what I have read it can have something to do with child birth. Although Ds is 19 months and I assume you would feel the pain soon after.

I've had the pain for about 3 or so months and it's got worse the last few weeks. It's only really painful when I sit down and get up.

I'm hoping it doesn't get worse really. Will call docs today to get an appointment.

I do take great pleasure though in telling stupid people and small children that I had to have a cast on my arse for 3 weeks Grin

I had it when I was about 12, don't remember falling over or anything like that! I didn't need any treatment, the doctor just told me to avoid sitting on hard chairs and it went away on its own after about 6 months
