Sciatica - would a TENS machine help?

DH has just been told by his doctor that he's got sciatica, he's been in lots of pain the last week

Does anyone know if a TENS machine would help? He thinks anything is worth a try but of course he doesn't want to make it worse

It should help - but he'll need to fiddle with the settings and pad positions for best results. My physio says they are v effective if you are prepared to try things
