I checked their feet this morning just incase something had developed overnight...nowt.
T'is v. disappointing.
However......
ds2 gets these whitehead spots behind his knees and he's got a big one. I've no idea what they are, but leave small holes in his otherwise perfect skin.
I'm going to have to butter him up to get my hands on that though, the last one left him traumatized for months!

Magicmayhem · 14/02/2011 20:44

I will be trying this...
I have a verucca the size of a penny... a pre decimal penny Shock I've had it for years and years. I've tried every thing... well except the duct tape.

I will report back how it goes!

FluffyMummy123 · 17/02/2011 16:25

day 6 in the verucca house

Are they looking dead yet?

Had a MAJOR verruca success last week with DS1!

He had a patch about the size of a 50p near his heel absolutely covered in them. Have been freezing the buggers for weeks to no avail. Decide to go to the Drs for drastic action at half term. In the meantime thought that I might have a little fiddle.

Soak DS's foot and arm myself with headtorch, file and tweezers.Grin Scrape off dead skin. Verrucas appear quite visible, give one a prod with the tweezers and it pulls out. So so the rest - HOW satisfying.

They've all gone now dissappointly

Sometimes you need specialist equipment Wink

I got rid of a real stubborn long term verrucca with duct tape.

When it finally came out, it left a lovely crater in my foot!

FluffyMummy123 · 17/02/2011 19:21

S1 worried by holes. Do they bleed? He has so many he won't be able to walk.
Did the rival of one get rid of all?

Slight craters here, no bleeding - barely noticeable after a week.

No bleeding - but my blighter took a few weeks to go completely. You could see it was improving though as the weeks went on, and it is immensly satisfying when lumps come out stuck to the tape (& it didn't hurt).

Pancakeflipper · 17/02/2011 22:33

I have had this verruca thingy on my foot for years... And it drives me bonkers. I am now going to the kitchen drawer of bits and bobs and going to stun my DP with my silver duct toes tonight in bed.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 17/02/2011 22:37

If they are really really stubborn then put some vinegar on cotton wool over the verruca then duct tape over the top. Cleared my long standing verrucas but was extremely painful so only use as a last resort.

A dermatologist told me that you have to leave it on for 3 WEEKS!..or if it falls off, pop another bit straight on.

DirtyMartini · 17/02/2011 22:54

This thread is making me want verrucas. I had NO idea they had this potential for being pulled out like little plugs, how totally fascinating!

Ah well. Maybe when the kids are older.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 17/02/2011 22:56

Arf at Balsamic Grin

I used white wine vinegar because that was all I had. I used to put the cotton wool on at night (only a little bit just enough to cover the verruca) and tape over it. I would take it off in the morning and put fresh tape on.

No one is entirely sure why the duct tape or vinegar works it may not be suffocation as such. One theory is that for some reason your immune system does not recognise the verruca as a viral invader so doesn't attack it the duct tape and/or vinegar creates a localised source of irritation that causes your body to "notice" the verruca and that your body the then destroys it.

My verrucas turned black Confused within a couple of days of starting the vinegar but I can't emphasise enough it bloody hurt but I had tried years of bazooka, freezing etc without success.

InnocentRedhead · 17/02/2011 22:59

Worked on mine that was there for seven years, took week and half continously on

DooinMeCleanin · 17/02/2011 23:03

It's not duct tape you need it's this stuff much gummier than duct tape.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 17/02/2011 23:05

right, i have had one barsteward of a verruca for years, has resisted all incoming missiles of various sorts (creams, paints, freezing, scraping etc) so i shall head to Homebase tomorrow, get some silver tape, and report back in 3 weeks!!!

Arf, has visions of many mumsnetters all buying duct tape for their medicine cabinets - buy your shares in duct tape manufacturers now ladies!!
