Horrible, horrible sickness bug

Hello All

I started vomiting on Sunday night and basically haven't stopped since then. My GP came out to see me yesterday, gave me an injection to stop the vomiting and also anti-sickness tablets. I wasn't sick for about 6 hours but then it started again.

I am absolutely worn out with it. Fortunately I have had dh home for a couple of days and local friends to take/pick up the dc from school.

I think my question is: has anyone had a bug which has lasted for so long? I am going to call the GP again as I am being sick roughly every couple of hours and cannot hold anything down (only drinking sips of water, which returns quickly). I feel bruised and sore everywhere and have never experiences anything like this. GP reckons it is "just a nasty bug". Hump, yes GP it IS a nasty bug.

Any anti-sickness tips? TIA ESP

I would ring them again. It could be something that requires antibiotic treatment - some bugs do, I think - usually the food poisoning ones.

Is anyone else ill - what did you eat before it started?

Have you managed to keep down the pills at all? Is it affecting your lower end too?

Hifi offers a limp pat on the back in sympathy. Hope your dds are soon on the mend.

ingrid everyone else fine and we have all eaten the same. Not much coming out the other end now TMI ALERT sort of slimy snotty stuff.

GP says he will come out with another injection as I haven't been able to keep the tablets down. Chin up, this will pass. Soon I hope.

thanks,whimpers.

He should have sent off a sample by now. You could well have an infection if you are passing mucus.

I hope he will try and get you tested asap, it sounds like one of those nasty things like salmonella or campylobacter perhaps. These do go away by themselves but you should be being tested as they can require treating...make sure you don't develop a temp or get worse, and if you do please call out of hours as that's not a good sign!

Hopefully you are past the worst of it now though.

Hope you get some rest tonight x

Thanks for your messages. I have (very proud) not been sick for (drum roll) 12 hours!

Doc did take a sample yesterday but, even though I still feel worn out and very rough, I am not being sick!

Hifi hope your dds and yourself are feeling a bit more human ESP

Oh well done Grin

That is smashing. I'm so pleased.

Be very gentle with yourself...maybe have some yakult or something to get you back on track.
