MRI scan and gold teeth

Is it ok to have a MRI scan (I have 2 gold teeth). I know I will have to take out my dental plate (because of the metal), but what happens to my gold teeth?

Scan will be on my spine, so nowhere near my mouth (I hope).

Doesn't the M in MRI stand for magnetic? And gold isn't magnetic, so I reckon you will be ok.

Have you had a letter from the hospital? I'm sure they would mention anything that would cause a problem.

Good luck Smile

No letter just a message on my answer phone. And when I phoned to make an appointment, they have given me an appointment for this Saturday, so am gobsmacked about the speed of it.

Yes don't worry, dental materials aren't magnetic on the whole. My dad had an MRI recently and as a magnetic research engineer, he tested them all himself (rolling eyes)

I went in with a brace no probs.

Just had one a couple of weeks ago and they don't care about what fillings you have gold or otherwise.

Not a problem at all

Wear loose clothes with no metal in them, you'll probably be asked to remove your bra and be prepared for it to feel quite enclosed
I was given a button to press if I felt unconfortable in any way
Tha radiographer can talk to you through an intercom in the scanner, mine played music to help me relax
