baby keeps missing routine vax due to illness

I have a hearly 16 WO DS who has not yet had his 12 week jabs as he has been ill first with (I think) some sort of gastroenteritis bug and then back-to-back colds since just before christmas.

I asked at the surgery whether he could have his vax with a cold, but the receptionist just said to make an appointment and the nurse would decide. However, I am not keen to drag us all the way there if they are just going to tell us 'no'!

What is the recieved wisdom on vaccinating when a child is (mildly) ill?

I am in almost the same boat. I had to get my older DC vacinated and the nurse said it was best to wait till DC3 was better before doing it, but also said to get it done asap when he is.
Could you not speak to the practice nurse on the phone?

DS is 15 months and all of his jabs have been delayed by illness. He is still to have his MMR and has to have a flu jab before then!

I spoke to the practise nurse the other day (when his flu jab was due) and she said that she would rather he was 100% before doing it, I know other places will do them as long as they don't have a temp. However, as a mum I would rather not give him something else to deal with when ill anyway as he reacts badly to illness anyway!
