I don't think there is one here.

I quit smoking just over a year ago Grin

Well done !! I can't wait until I can say that !!

How did you do it - did you use nrt or go cold turkey ? I am planning on using the patches and lozenges.

Its a shame there isn't one as giving up smoking is such an important change to make imo and it would be great to have people going through/ have gone through the same to chat to !!

I had an accupressure stitch put in. You still need some willpower, but I just didn't want to smoke anymore, it was great. It stays in for three months.

I do still get the urge sometimes, but you just have to ignore it. It never completely goes away, but you just don't give in. My colleague who also had the stitch put in has gone back onto them because she had stress in her life. I have been stressed since quitting, but you just have to find other ways of dealing with it.

Have your tried the medication from the gp? I've heard that's good.

I am happy for you ilovemyhens that you quit. I am totally disgusted with the whole smoking thing and my DH is a chain smoker. I've tried in vane with tears to get him to stop but he just cant I know he wants to though and this is very stressful to me and definitely puts a strain on our marriage (not to mention the cost of all those cigarettes) Does anyone know of some kind of anonymous 12 step program he can try cuz its high time he finally quit.

Decided to use patches and the odd mini lozenge should the need arise !!

Next week am starting weight watchers too so will probably be a nervous wreck next week Shock

Hey thought I would say hi and wish you luck with the quitting. I found out that I am pregnant on Sunday and so as of this morning quit too! Cause I am pregnant I dont think I can use any NRT... and am finding it hard but am determined that I will quit for the baby's sake!

If any of you are trying to quit may I suggest Easyway - www.allencarrseasyway.com

This method is 90% effective
It requires no willpower, no weight gain, no cravings - honestly, I quit with this method 7 months ago, it's like I was never a smoker.

It's essentially like counter-brainwashing as it removes your mental dependency on smoking, so no replacing nicotine with nicotine or struggling with cold-turkey. It really is an easy way to quit, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE just go check it out, it WILL help you quit for good...I promise.

You can either buy one of the books from Amazon for like a few £'s, or you can attend a clinic - the clinic is the same information as the book but with additional support. Clinics costs about £200 but the book gives you 20% off and they give a full money back guarantee so if the clinic doesn't work you get your money back.

I buy the books really cheap and give them to my friends, loads of my friends have quit now with these books. I swear if I could buy a copy of the book for all you lot, every smoker in the country, I totally would!

I tried EVERYTHING to quit; NRT, Zyban, herbal smokes, E-cigarettes, mouthwash/spray, hypnosis, etc. etc. - I left the clinic thinking 'Yeah, right, that was pointless I'm going to smoke again I know it' but for some reason I just didn't, the need to smoke wasn't there at all and I've had no cravings at all since, it really is strange but totally fantastic to be free too!
