Found a lump some time ago on my breast but never done anything about it as it seemed to disapear.

Have felt it on a few occassions but as I have big boobs thought it was fatty lump now though its back and sore even to lift kettle or the kids

Going to get doc appt today and call into work sick

Hope all is ok

good idea to go to the doctors to get it checked

it sounds like mastitis rather than anything sinister so try not to worry too much

Carameli · 12/10/2005 08:27

I know its hard but do try not to worry. I had a lump a while ago and it was fine, nothing wrong with it, but worried me like mad at the time.

you are doing the best thing by getting an appt and letting the doc check it.

jambuttie · 12/10/2005 09:00

appt today at 9.30- not long now

Thanks folks for your kind messages.

Doctor felt the lump I felt but also felt another mass She has given me strong dosage of anti b's to see if its just a cyst.

Have to go back after they are finished for a further examination and to see if I need to be sent to breast clinic[worry]

At least it wasn't bad news today and hopefully all will be well after this course of anti b's

HI, how long before you can see someone at the clinic ? can you ring them yourself & see if you can get an urgent appointment ? What about some websites, can you look there or perhaps ring some of the helplines for advice ?

jambuttie · 21/10/2005 11:17

doctor said it will be within weeks rather than months.

Hi jambuttie
Sorry to hear your news. I know what you're going through as I have breast cancer and have had the surgery - now waiting to start chemo. There were problems in my referral so I'm just writing to say don't be complacent when it comes to getting a date. Don't sit back and wait for it - if you haven't heard from the hospital within a week, phone them and push. As a woman with a discrete lump and presuming you are over 30, you should be seen urgently (within 2 weeks). I didn't find that out until I had been waiting for 9 weeks.....
Anyway, good luck with it all and if you want support, I'm posting on the 'lump in breast - any advice please' thread. There are at least four other people that I know of on mumsnet who have had breast cancer, and that's a great support. There are, as you can see, lots of other people who have had lumps and it turned out to be nothing sinister. Hope that it works out like that for you.

jambuttie · 21/10/2005 13:12

Thankyou laala for your kind words and I wish you all the best with your chemo hun.

I had a hysterectomy in june and was 30 in july then this- doctors questioned whether HRT was the cause. Like how am I msupposed to know. I am aware that HRT can increase the risk but not this quick surely. Anyway hoping I am another non sinister lump lady.

Big hugs to you and be strong

Hi I just wanted to second Lalaa comments. Make sure you chase up your appointment don't keep waiting for it to arrive.

I had Breast Cancer 4.5 yrs had mastectomy, chemo & radio. So far so good.

It is very common to get lumps in your Breasts that are nothing to worry about the important thing is that you get it checked.

I hope that everything is ok & will be thinking of you.
J
