DS 19mo possible ankle sprain

DS woke up half an hour ago, carried him downstairs, every time I put him on ground to walk he cried, changed his nappy and noticed his ankle was swolles. Tried to touch it and he cried. He is fine when he is sitting down but just waiting for doctors to open and worried:(

goodness, I'd be surprised if he's sprained it - is it red at all? is there anything that looks like a bite around it?
If you think he's sprained it, how do you think that happened?
It could be some kind of juvenile arthritis, I suppose but blood tests will help with that.
Sorry to hear your worries, hope it turns out to be something simple.

I don't know, no redness very swollen won't let me touch it, we did go outside for a walk yesterday for the first time in a long time and were outside for a while walking about maybe half an hour but he's on his feet all the time in the house, almost all the time in fact, sprain is the first thing I could think of, it seems similar to a sprain

oh pants, sorry about that.
Hope someone else comes along with better info for you then - or that the GP can advise you properly when you get there.

Thanks thumbdabwitch, appreciate the help:) realised my posting style was a bit abrupt this morning, apologies! Doctor said it was either that he slept funny on his foot, wouldn't be surprised, DS has been known to sleep standing up! He said if it is still bad on monday to call him and he will arrange for blood tests at the hospital, but he can't see it coming to that. Thanks for your help again:)
