I'm panicking

and need to put this into perspective.

I've got a very heavy cold at the momonet which I caught from DD2.

A couple of days ago, I noticed a swelling (for want of a better word) under my right armpit, right at the top bit where it creases if that makes sense (the kind of sinewy bit). I only noticed it when washing my armpits n the shower as the soap made it easier to feel. It is painless. It's not a lump as such and is soft, but feels larger than the same area on the other side.

Could this be a lymph node that's swollen as a result of this cold/flu thing? I've had swollen lymph nodes in my armpits before when I've been unwell but they have tended to be a bit tender.

I'm tryng to be sensible and think that it's probably not coincidence that I noticed this just before going down with this cold and that the two are probably linked.

If you are worried then book an advance appointment with your gp, then if the lump goes away you can cancel the appointment - but if it is still there you can tell the gp it has been their for a week or so and you thought it was wise to get it checked. Otherwise you can cancel the appointment if the area goes back to normal

Thanks Ivy, that's what I'll do I think.
