What should one actually have in one. Mine seems a bit random.

I would say:

Plasters (+ spray plaster is good)
Dressings of few sizes
Triangular Bandage
Tubi Grip or other bandage?
Cleansing Wipes
Tweezers (for splinters)
Savlon
Anti histamine
Paracetamol + Ibuprofen
Anti Diarrhoea tabs
Re-hydration salts
Anti indigestion (if prone)

Ah, OK, I actually have most of that.

Keep the meds separately, but don't suppos e that matters. Does it?

Is that really enough?

Add "steri-strips" - they are great!

If you Google "First Aid Kits" it is just dressings etc. I bought one and only used plasters & savlon from it.

A leaflet telling you how to deal with minor emergencies is probably the most useful, or better still a first-aid/resucitation course.

If you can deal with grazed knees, cuts & bruises, bites & stings and improvise for sprains & strains then doing well.

Maybe also add Muscle rub / ibuprofen gel stuff?

Maybe eye-wash?
