Incontinent - But only for 2 weeks after my period - Possible?

I had a botched ceasarean 1 year ago and since then dont really feel the need to urinate unless my bladder is practically overflowing. Since about November I have been being incontinent now and again but only for the 2 weeks directly following my period!! I did originally think it was maybe discharge but I am now sure it is wee (as it smells like wee sorry tmi).

Anyway I am waiting for an appointment for the clinic but is wondering if it is possible to be only incontinent for 2 weeks after period? Or am I going to look like a fool saying this, surely it should be all the time!

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible (it is happening to you, after all!). You do have hormonal changes throughout the month which can affect the ability of a weakened pelvic floor to hold onto urine, particularly one that can't feel very much! (I normally find that makes me slightly weaker leading up to my period, though...). Also, throughout the month your uterus and cervix move around a little bit, depending on how fertile you are, so I guess it's possible that at some times of the month, your uterus is in a position that could put more pressure on the bladder????

Obviously, this is all utter speculation as I have no medical qualifications whatsoever! Thought it might make you feel better to have someone reply, though...

Anyway, I certainly don't think you will sound at all stupid to ask about it.

ps Were you told anything at the time of your caesarean about the possibility of nerve damage to your bladder? And how much urine are you weeing out when you are practically overflowing? (ie are you definitely not emptying your bladder until it is overflowing, or are you actually suffering urge incontinence, where you suddenly feel the need to go, even though your bladder isn't full?). Have you already seen a specialist about your bladder problems, or do you just think your bladder is overflowing before you realise???

After my period ends, I get what I (used to think) was wee - but it can sometimes be like watery blood, or clear fluid. My GP has said it's just my cycle. It's really really annoying though.
Some months it is worse than others where I can be sitting quite happy and then feel the gushing sensation of it, but although it feels like a lot, sometimes it's less than I think. This can continue for up to a week, and then it turns into the 'egg whitey' consistency......
I have used a light flow tampon to catch it, this makes me feel better, and that way, I knew it was not urine.
I would ask to be checked out, it depends on if you really feel that it is incontinence, but no joke - when this started happening, I thought I'd wet myself as it was like a warm wee. (sorry maybe tmi, but hey)

ive had this since i had a mirena coil fitted in November,so can only assume its hormone related? Glad im not the only one!

COme to think of it, I started getting this when I came off the pill - that was 3 years ago....

Rabbitstew I think they think it is nerve damage. I never get the ooh I definitly need to go urge. When I had my c section my organs were adhered to each other from a previous section and a fallopian tube was pulled from my bladder which they believe may have caused the not being a ble to feel sensation. This sensation was discovered after the section when they pulled the catheter out and said to not go to the toilet till I was desperate - Well 10 hours later after 2 jugs of water and a litre of diet coke I was still waiting to need a wee!!!!! The nurse suggested I go and I filled 2 bed pans lol.

The incontinenece part of the problem only started around Nov time. It mainly happens when I stand up or in the middle of the night if I get up (not when I cough or sneeze). It is def wee. Oh well will chase up my appt at the clinic and keep you ladies informed wether hormones can do this
