Why did my index finger decide to stick up by itself ? Awful pain too, almost up to elbow, and would not relax despite ibuprofen gel.
This happened at bedtime yesterday, and would like to prevent it happening again.
Does anyone know why?

I personally know nothing about this, but i know that my retired neighbour had this, and she had to have an injection of steroid into one of the joints in her finger as it kept sticking, and clicking, and was real sore. Might be worth while going to doc? (not meaning to alarm you) Saw you had no answers, and wished to post. Good luck. Keep me posted. x

Thank you so much for posting, and bit of extra info. I was hoping to avoid yet another surgery visit, but will let you know later - no time just yet, as was at surgery only last week. Thanks again for posting.

Sounds like a tendon sheath problem - massage it, go to docs, if it persists, go for the steroid injection
