Reassure me

I'm feeling very worried at the moment as my period is 3 weeks late - unheard of for me. DP and I have used condoms every time we had sex in the past few months after I came off the pill. I know coming off the pill can make your cycle irregular, but it was fine for the first few months, so I don't see why it's suddenly stopped now.

It isn't possible to get pregnant whilst using a condom is it? I've had a condom break before, years ago, but both me and DP could tell.

It's possible, but generally it's when it breaks, or has a small hole in it (maybe out of date/perished)
or it slips off a bit inside you, or while it's coming out - so stuff can escape.

Or if he was touching you with his [ahem]before he put it on iyswim. Or afterwards.

if none of these things happened then it's really unlikely.

Ingrid - I'm always careful about not letting DP near me until he's covered up, so there's no way it could be that.

I think the only way you'll know is by taking a test, but I can't imagine it's very likely you're pregnant, because condoms are really reliable when used properly.

It's just possible it had a manufacturing fault and had a tiny leak in it, or something. But it's so unlikely.

I'm really really hoping I'm not. Too embarrassed to go and buy a test, which is silly because I'm 24...

I always heard stress can stop periods and I never fully believed it. I thought it would have to be a horribly stressful time, e.g. losing a relative, moving house, declaring bankruptcy and finding out I had a horrible disease before that would be the case.

But between September and December my period completely stopped. I had perhaps two or three days of very light spotting in December. I took about 20 pregnancy tests during this time, as we were actually TTC, and they were all negative.

So, periods can sometimes stop for no apparent reason :)

That said, our first baby is a condom-didn't-work baby.

Take a test :)

Get DP to buy the test! I'm too embarrassed to buy them too. That's what men are there for. He buys my sanitary towels too

Buy a test in the supermarket and go through the self-checkout.

Phew. Started my TOTM today - I think maybe it was because I relaxed over the weekend. Feeling so much better (despite stomach cramps)
