hi,

have had swine flu a week and during the whole time have been feeling completely out of it. my symptoms, the fevers have stopped, the cough is getting better. yet this feeling of being not in my body/brain is horrible.

It's like being in a dream. Is this normal after a bad virus? I feel like i am a few seconds behind myself and just very weak. Just a bit of assurance if this is what happens.

I had the regular old-fashioned flu when I was 16 and to be honest I don't really remember much about it. I basically lost 10 days of my life so I think, yes it does knock you out of the system for a while.

I do remember it actually took about a month to get back to what was then normal!

We had swine flu/normal flu over christmas and new year. The worst of it lasted a week, the lingering extras lasted another week (blocked sinuses, lingering cough) and the hazy/dizzy/not quite on the planet feeling didn't go until after about three weeks. We didn't take anything except paracetomol - honest!!

Yep normal. Your body has been through a major illness. You wouldn't expect to feel terribly chipper a few days after a heart attack would you?

Rest, rest and more rest, eat well, drink a lot of water and then rest some more.

Yes normal, we had confirmed swine flu at Xmas and I remember sitting in the chair almost feeling like I was floating abovce myself if that makes sense?

piratecat · 30/01/2011 16:36

thanks.

glad its normal. do any of you drive? dd8 has been off whilst i have been ill, she has had bad chest, but i think she can go back to school.

did you drive like this? i don't think i can, so need to get my head in one place to sort this out.

my neighbours walk, i could ask them, but dd's cough is still quite bad and i think it will be too much.

Best not to drive no. Your sinuses get really bashed by the flu and it can affect your balance.
