Worms.... When do they die?

DD has worms, we found out on saturday. We were all treated (took the magic orange pill) and the next day, the house and everything was scrubbed! I know that sometimes the eggs dont die with this treatment and you may have to take the med again two weeks later but does anyone know how long the adult worms take to die/disappear after the treatment? DD has just done a poo and there were still worms present.

Live worms die but eggs are not killed and can re-introduce if anyone carries on scratching their bum & sucking their thumb!

She took the medicine on saturday though and there are still adult worms there - do i need to give her more meds?

I found out my kitten had worms on sunday, I treated her and she still had them yesterday but none today. Not quite the same but I guess its a similar timescale

Are these new eggs that have hatched in 2 days??
oh my god - i have infestations in my families bottoms - help!

what does it say on the advice leaflet?

Just that caution has to be taken for 6 weeks afterwards because thats how long the adult lives, ie break the cycle but keep going for that length of time to make absolute sure and give meds again in 2 weeks if you think some of the eggs have hatched.

I would stop panicking as you can't take anymore medication for 2 weeks - reassess then whether you have still got them!

Lecture the kids about scratching their bottoms though!!!

This problem is pretty much bound to come up 2 or 3 times more at least whilst your kids are young I would expect based on own experiences

i can cope with puke, wee, poo, snot, weird stuff but head lice and worms have sent me off the rails. DD has hair pulled back so tight at school that i worry for her eyesight!!!! She sucks her thumb constantly, has excema so is always ALWAYS scratching her bum and generally is the smelliest little princess i have ever layed eyes on - the future doesnt look good does it! I dont think they are new eggs that have hatched as they were adult size (eeeuuuww) so maybe some got away!

those are freaky things but you get more used to it and it doesn't bother you so much after a bit - I guess like nappies...
