I did post s few hallucinatory days ago in swine flu, but as it's sine flu i thought as in rl everyone wouldn't wont to go there!

Bear with me as i am still dazed.

I got diagnosed last friday and have been in bed ever since. The main cough chills, fever subsided alot after say monday just gone. Yet i am still feeling like my head is in a fog, like i've smoked ten spliffs. WHY?

I was worried about my chest and secondary infections but my chest is getting better. The shallow breathing has lessened.

Of course during this dd8 has been ill too. Similar symptoms but hers had a 3 day head start on me, but hasn't had the shortness of breath or ongoing not awake thing. She has been quite weak, and had the fever/sore throat and cough. She has been off school throoghout and luckily has entertianed her self, between napping.

The doc thinks she may well have had a milder version of it. I sent her to school thurs, but it was too much and she was worse firday.

How much longer wil i feel so crap? I havent left the house for a week.

Sorry that you're still feeling so bad!

A mild case would last 5+ days, often it's a fortnight, can be longer.

I hope you're on the mend soon!

I had it at the beginning of December.

The first 3 or 4 days I was wobbly and shaky, running a temperature but able to leave the house (I sat sweating and shivering through the DC's Christmas concert).

Then I had 3 days of literally being unable to get out of bed, hallucinating, throwing up even sips of water, felt as though I was actually dying.

Then I had about a week of feeling weak and disorientated, as you say a bit like you are stoned. I was out of bed but couldn't do much.

The headaches and tiredness carried on for about another 4 weeks. I am only really starting to feel 100% again in the last week or so.

Sorry if this sounds doom laden but it really does take a good while to get over a bad dose of flu :(

I had 'flu over New Year. Same sort of symptoms that you describe. I had 6 days where I couldn't get out of bed, then 6 'weak' days until I started feeling normal again. Though I don't feel ill anymore my cough persisted and on Friday the doc prescribed some antibiotics as my cough mucus is thick and greeny.

Hope you feel better soon - sounds like you're nearly through to the other side Smile

Oh - and dh has just pointed out that I'm still needing to go to bed early to try and get 8-9 hours sleep as I'm shattered at the end of the day. I'd forgotten about that as I tend to like my bed anyway Grin

PadmeHum · 29/01/2011 12:48

DH did not feel 100% for 5 weeks after the onset of symptoms.

piratecat · 29/01/2011 13:21

woah

long time for lots of you. glad the stoned feeling is normal as it's v disconcerting.

The cough is murky, but loose now. that i can cope with it's just the odd feeling of being detached. if dd is well i for school i don't trust myself to drive her there.
