I did my 8.2 today. It was great. Totally loved it. Got a real thrill going over the line. I was aiming for 90 minutes - (having never managed to sustain an 11 min mile for more than about 4) but I did it in 85. so was really chuffed. Didn't get that "I can't do this" moment at all (which I get all the time training. I need to break the news to dh that this might not have been a one off...

Well done hatstand! Can't remember, are you training for a half?

jambuttie · 10/10/2005 10:26

well done you

That's fantastic hatstand! What a brilliant achievement. Amazing how the atmosphere of a race carries you along, compared to the niggling 'I wanna walk now!' voice you get during training (well I do anyway...)

Have no races coming up but am doing 3 40-min runs a week which feels great & am really enjoying it. Much easier to fit in running now my 3rd & last baby is at school!

Brilliant stuff hatstand. You do realise that that means your standard training run has just become 8 miles don't you?

haven · 10/10/2005 16:53

WOW! well done...one day I'll be right long side...breaking in the 5 mark

hatstand · 11/10/2005 19:04

thanks everyone. Not training for a half but my friend and I are keen to keep it up. There's the same race in Spring so we could either aim to do that quicker or look for maybe a 10 miler. we'll see. We were both gutted when we saw the race photos though. I look like I'm on the point of collapse - need to learn how to run tall
