I'm getting really worried about my DS (9 months). 2.5 weeks ago he got a cold which developed into tonsilitis and an ear infection. He stopped eating any solids that day and hasn't had any more than a couple of teaspoonfuls a day since then (at best-most days nothing). The antibiotics worked on the ear inf. but he still has a very red throat. He's had diarrhoea for the last 4 days (2-3 times a day) and to top it all off he's developed another cold overnight. He's a really gaggy baby so is finding it really tricky to drink his milk when his nose is blocked. The dr. said we could try another set of antibiotics if we liked though I said I'd prefer to hold off and see if he could fight it off. The dr. thought this a good idea too- I don't think he was too convinced DS was suffering as he was trying to get to everything on the dr's desk and tbh has been quite happy in himself.

Really sorry for the essay but I don't know what to do for him at the moment. Has anyone got any thoughts/ suggestions? PLEASE

Hi, could you give him diarlyte(sp) the rehydrating fluid for diarhoea and vomitting which will replace some of the minerals, maybe try some very wet soups just to get the calories in him and help him to regain energy in order to fight the bugs. Offer little and often and through the nutrition out the window for a while, offer things like yoghurt, icecream, anything wet that wont irritate his throat and that he will accept. Keep going back to gp if worried not necessarily for ab's but just to keep an eye on weight and hydration.
