I am ebf my 9wk old dd and gave read that you are not supposed to take anti histamine when bf so....

Help!! Please... I am going crazy. Very odd, about 10 days ago I noticed that the inside of my knees and just above and below were a little itchy, and red and my skin was bumpy almost like having goosebumps. The redness and most itchiness then disappeared leaving horrible bumpy skin. Then a few days later I noticed the same horrible bumpiness and slight itching but no redness on my side of my torso.

Now suddenly tonight everything itches sooo much including my face and hair and back... I don't know if this is related to previous itchy and weird skin or something different. Tried to work out what I could be having a reaction to but not eating anything different or using any different creams...

Anyone have any ideas? Please help!

Dear Samraves, have just read your question....you poor thing, i can think of nothing worse then being itchy and not being able to do anything about it, it must be absolutely terrible for you! Have you seen your GP...... it may be a viral illness! can i suggest you get advice on medication from your local breast feeding support group or an on-call pharmacist. Try other things as well such as cool baths and loose cotton clothing.
Goodluck and get well soon

Behind knees, and itchy bumpy reddened skin sounds a lot like eczema...have you got dry skin? Mabye try something like Doublebase (emollient cream), or Aveeno, but you may need some hydrocortisone ointment from the GP.

Otherwise, it sounds like an allergy of some sort - you could try Piriton for the itching, wo'nt hurt and may help you sleep.

Poor you, nothing worse than bad itching, especially at night. Hope find solution soon!

Oh you poor thing! Being itchy is the worst! Especially in the winter time! How often do you moisturize? I used to have the worst itchy skin but then I started a daily of regime of lathering up morning and night and it has helped SO MUCH!! I use Eucerin lotion and definitely recommend it to you. I started doing some work with them and fell in love with their Smoothing Essentials and I don't think I'll every use anything else. I hope this will work for you too and, of course, you should always get it checked out with your Dr!
