In agony and could weep

I have problems with my neck due to arthritis but since last night have been in even more pain than usual. I can barely move my head, swalloing, sneezing and coughing hurts, I can't lift my arm without it hurting, bending over hurts, lying down hurts....sob. I am in absolute agony.
Think have trapped nerve? Don't want to go to doctors coshe'll poke at it and make me cry!

Does sound like trapped nerve - do you have a local osteopath/physio you have heard good things about? IME GP is pretty useless with necks and backs, apart from giving anti-inflammatories which, at times, are a good thing. If you need painkillers, go to GP - otherwise, see if you can get an appointment somewhere??

I do sympathize, just come back from osteopath and first time I can move neck in 2 weeks - should have gone sooner Blush

That said, you know, if its that painful, there is always the risk of disc involvement - GP could send you for urgent MRI if necessary, might be worth checking.

Thanks, its only one side so don't think its a disc. if worsens of doesn't ease of in next 24-48 hours will seek medical attention.

In the mean time have you taken a full days dose of anti-inflammatories? and maybe consider something like syndol which has a bit of a muscle relaxant in it (warning - am not a doctor!!) Elibean is right, osteos can be brilliant.
I think though if you do have the slightest worry that there maybe be disc involvement then you should get it urgently looked at.

NorthernGobshite · 21/01/2011 20:20

I can't afford osteo so thats not an option. I am going to see how I feel tomorrow and go to Urgent Care Centre if no better/worse. My dear friend is bringing me some of her pain killers - she has a variety of illnesses - until I can see a doctor. Hoping its just a trapped nerve, but damn it hurts.
