Ectopic Pregnancies?

This could be and probably is infact, absolutely nothing but i'm a little worried anyway.

I have been on Cerazette (mini pill) for about 4 months. In that time, i had one, small period in the second month and nothing since.

For about 2 weeks now I've been getting on and off abdominal cramping, more so on the right side but it strikes on both, intermittent and sometimes quite severe.

Then, on Friday, I developed a sharp shoulder pain, right at the top, towards the back. Thats intermittent too and its still happening.

I'm hesitant to think its anything serious at all pregnancy related as i haven't missed a single pill, but I have on a couple of occasions had a tummy upset and not used the condoms for 7 days as advised.

So, just wondering if there is anybody out there who has experienced ectopic pregnancy and if that could be a possibility?

I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow

i have had an ectopic pregnancy and yes the symptons you describe would suggest you may be experiancing it!

before you go to the doctor, prepare anything u may need for a hospital stay as they will admit you if it is!

Go and get a pregnancy test as soon as you can (tonight if possible).

If it's negative, stop worrying for now.

If it's positive, go to A&E. But I did read on another forum that the shoulder and stomach pain involved is excruciating and you wouldn't be able to bear it if it was an ectopic pregnancy - it wouldn't intermittent.

It sounds like the sort of pain caused by gallstones. Ask for a scan as it's quite easy to diagnose. Right shoulder pain, along with a sort of cramping, tightening, squeezing pain under the ribs is also a common symptom, mostly on the right side. Worth mentioning to your gp. hth :)

Oh and I have had an eptopic too and didn't experience your symptoms with that. :)

Spanky, an ectopic is life threatening. From what you describe it could be one. You need to take a pg test asap (although it might be negative as hormone levels can be very low) then go to A&E.

Do take the advice of others and get checked out if it is an ectopic you need it dealt with asap. Your symptoms suggest it could be.

On a personal note when I had an ectopic, the symptoms went from appearing - to -severe in less than 2 days, and the pain in my abdomen was very severe, not able to walk etc., - BUT that is just me others may experience it differently, so please get checked out - best of luck Smile

I agree you should go and see the doctor. However just to reassure you - the shoulder pain experienced with an ectopic is due to internal bleeding. If you started getting the shoulder pain a week ago and are still well then I would think it is unlikely to be an ectopic (going on the shoulder pain alone)

With my second ectopic I only experienced the shoulder pain once I was in A&E being preped for surgery. It was very severe - far worse than the abdominal pain and I was close to death so would not have lastred a week with it! I hope it is not ectopic but good that you are aware of the symptoms.
