Hi,
Am going to have to go under the knife soon for a rectopexy (putting rectocele and enterocele back in place ). I will need mesh support and although I am about to get a second opinion I don't think there is any way round this.
Anyone had any surgery with mesh and what was their experience ? Think it is also used for gynae repairs like cystocele and hernias.

I had an incisional hernia repaired with mesh in November last year. I have so far healed fairly well although I had a bit of a problem with adhesions (but think that may have been because I had had a very big bowel operation previously - so insides in a bit of a jumble!).

Mine was done by laparoscopy so only tiny op. wounds.

Hopefully someone who has had the same operation you are having can give you more specific info., but happy to answer anything you want to know if I can Smile

Thank you Kurri- have had previous appendicectomy so do wonder about adhesions. How do they treat these?

Sp far they are just 'keeping an eye on' mine - whatever that means, I imagine if it gets too bad I'd have to have surgery to unstick things, sometimes I think they sort themselves out, (so I'm hoping this will be the case for me things are a lot less painful than they were a month ago).

Hopefully this won't be a problem for you - I'm sure it's not for everyone.

I've just remembered my dad had a mesh hernia repair about ten years ago, and he hasn't had any problems of that nature, (although his was groin, mine was abdomen)

Good luck anyway Smile
