Have been moaning about my pill, have had a thread on here before about tried a new pillfor 3 months went back today and saw a different DR said I wasn't happy...

long and short of it is - gp tried to blind me with science then basically said all pills were the same just made up slightly differently so that pharmacuetical(sp?) companys could make more money. Also so that women felt they had a choice even though they don't really.

Also said that no wonder I felt crappy and pregnant on the one I tried it's because I'm pumping my body full of hormones AND if he was a women there's no way he'd take the contraceptive pill!!!!!!!!

Oh and to top it off the coil might make me infertile (2nd DR to tell me this) and the injection will make me fat hairy and miserable.

Needless to say I'm back on my original pill and feeling pretty pissed off.

A question for you hmb regarding Cilest...I don't know if you know anything about it, but if you have worked for the manufacturers you may do! I have met quite a lot of women have bad experiences with Cilest - including myself.

In lots of ways it is the best pill I ever used, but after 3 years I suddenly started bleeding really heavily one day midcycle. I left it for a few days and ended up in A&E. The bleeding couldn't be attributed to anything, despite blood tests, scans etc and in the end I was given medication to stop it. I was told by the gynae consultant to stop using that pill and to switch to another. I've had no problems since.

Working in FP clinics, I have met another 5+ patients with a similar experience, all using Cilest. It really struck a chord with me and I wondered if there could be a link to this pill? Any ideas?

It is on a par with all other coc 's for side effects. As I said different progesterones suit different women and it is almost a case of shopping around to get the one that suits you. I had mid cycle bleeding on other pills but not cilest!

I used to work in drug safety monitoring and we never saw a link of the type you described.....this was 10 years ago btw!

HelloMama, I talked in another post that besides tender boobs I had problems down below - what I meant was heavy bleeding mid cycle! well not blood as much as black mucus(sp?) Sorry TMI I know but just to say I guess it's the same problem

Niether doctor I saw asked me if I was in a stable relationship and I wouldn't say that I would be in a 'high risk' group for any reason so it's strange that they are writing me off for the coil. Maybe it is practice policy or something???

Pinotmum, your dh's mate is exaggerating hugely. Vasectomy is a simple procedure and may cause a bit of soreness for a few days. Men are such wusses!
