Day 5? I'm in no way medical, but the times I've been on abs whatever was wrong has become significantly better within 24 hours (hence the problem with people not completing their courses)

Did your GP not tell you how soon to expect improvement?

I'd go back tomorrow and tell them they're not working, it might be that what you have is resistant to the ABs you're taking and you need different ones (has happened to me with an ear infection)

i would of thought id be better by now - saw the gp twice last week once for the ab's and agin for the steriods,gp did say the ab's would take 4-5 days to work

Did he do a blood test to check which bacteria is causing your chest infection or whether it is viral? Also, did you have an X-ray? As CP says - it could very well be that you need different anti-biotics. I am at present on Claritromycin for a chest infection following chest X-ray and I am still not better but did have a significant improvement after 24-48 hours. I am on a 7 day course. So I would go back to GP and ask for review of anti-biotics and chest X-ray. Good luck.
