Me: broken ankle on Xmas Day, operated on 4th January, now climbing the walls trying to keep DD3 entertained (with help from au pair and lovely friends dropping in), looking forward to being able to walk again some time in February...

Come and join me on my 6 week wait...

I've been away for a few days, so this fell off my threads I'm on.

Glad to hear that there is progress and some of you out of plaster.

My consultant said that they didn't refer my type of injury to physio as routine as getting up and about was just as good. I went anyway, but found it hard to do all the exercises. I remember crying because there was one that was just too hard and I felt like I would never be able to do it again. And of course I can do it now, it just seemed like I still had such a long way to go once the plaster was off.

I had a limp for a long time and couldnm't work out why until I walked up and down the hall in front of a full length mirror. It really is like learning to walk again.

Hang in there ladies! It will all come good in the end Smile

A bit alarmed to find out that people drive with casts on (I know its just a arm cast and you still have use of fingers) did you know your insurance is completely invalid when wearing a cast whilst driving?

Anyway now I've given you advice slapped a few wrists I'll be off, hope you're all on the mend soon Grin

Well it's a lot harder to learn to walk again than I thought it would be. Am in a cast with special shoe, I hope it will get easier but I have done some cleaning today which makes me feel useful. Am a bit tired from all the hobbling and I had a nightmare last night that I was in the Bahrain riots!

I've overdone it today- ankle has swollen up and soreSad . Thanks mawbroon needed to hear that it'll be all right eventually!

Me too asinine- mine is red and swollen. I'm so happy to be walking again that I'm not resting it much in the daytime at all any more.

You still need to rest up!!

I know it's tempting, but take it easy!

I found when I started taking the first few steps that the floor seemed to slope downhill away from me! It was very odd Shock

I know, I know. It's just the garden is out there growing and I need to be ready for spring!

Went and did my physio this morning. Am in a lot of pain - have been since cast came off. Its a no at the moment to fit flops and MBT trainers and birkenstocks. Oh and I've found out I can't run for another six months or go on tippy toe!!! But I do love the treatment I've received - thank god for the NHS!
