I have what i call funny do's! I can be feeling great then suddenly I feel so hot then weak and shaky. it can last anywhere from 5 mins to 30 mins.
brief history of me: 35, two kids 4 yrs and 3 months, low blood pressure, good general health. these do's i have had for years and i have never found a cause. any suggestions?

Are you standing when this happens? Could be low blood pressure causing a near faint.

I would see your GP and get a check of your thyroid function and iron levels -especially as you have fairly recently had a baby.

Could you be anaemic? Sounds very similar to how I felt when I was. I'd lost a lot of blood after an operation, but it was just how you're describing. I've got low BP too.

shodatin · 09/01/2011 23:12

I have these daily and have to mop face, but nothing showed on blood tests. Another one with low bp by the way...

Mummyofmax · 10/01/2011 19:04

must be the low bp then as nothing shows on my blood tests either.

do u all feel shaky with it?

if you are stressed you can get hot flushes by release of adrenalin at the wrong time. This can cause facial flushing and red neck and chest

Mummyofmax · 11/01/2011 20:30

didnt know that! thanks alypaly xx

Yes thanks alypaly, but not particularly stressed; not too shaky either just a bit weak and very embarrassed.
GP said possibly side-effect of drugs, but I don't think so.
Has anyone found out how to stop this once it's started?

alypaly · 12/01/2011 00:11

shodatin.......why are you embarrassed.

what drugs are you on. have you been poorly recently?

shodatin · 13/01/2011 00:11

Embarrassed to be continuously mopping at face (and scrubbing off makeup).
Drugs are painkillers plus antidepressant after cancer op - any ideas to help please?

alypaly · 13/01/2011 14:43

if the pain killers have codeine in it,(Gp could be right) that can cause facial flushing as it is a morphine derivative. Co-codamol 30/500 make my cheeks red.

Oh you poor thing. you must have felt some stress before and after the op. that will make you flush. close correlation between depression, anxiety and stress.

I had alot of facial flushing when i was depressed and it would just creep up on me like a thermometer when i was working. it was just supressed anxiety.

shodatin · 13/01/2011 16:01

Painkillers are MST and Oramorph, which fits, and anxiety is due to physical deterioration, so guess I'm stuck with the problem.
It could have been something worse I suppose.
Thank you for information.

alypaly · 13/01/2011 16:43

if you go in strong sun or use a tanning studio it can make the side effects of the morphine worse too.

its horrible isnt it...my face used to feel as if it was burning. when i was at home i used to sit there with iced flannels. are you still on the painkillers despite the opSad

shodatin · 13/01/2011 17:47

Yes, treatment made spine worse I think, plus another problem with legs!
Will try adding cold flannel pack to handbag - thanks again
