Help, really need to cure DH's snoring!

He never use to snore but started about 12 months ago and its really bad! Its driving me crazy, ear plugs don't work. I often end up coming down and sleeping on the couch because he keeps me awake.

We've tried those strips that you stick on you nose and they did slightly reduce it but its still very bad.

Any ideas please?

You need to get this problem addressed for both your sakes.

He needs to see his GP asap(go there with him) as there may be an underlying medical cause for his loud snoring. It can cause huge problems both for his health (he needs to be assessed to see if he has sleep apnoea or problems with his throat/tonsils/palate) and within the marriage too.

Sleeping on the couch for you is not good as you may well end up with back problems as a result.

Nasal strips are only a temporary measure.

As Attila says, get him to his GP.

Try one of these

I do feel your pain. Has DH gained weight recently? That seems to be a real trigger with my DH, he also tried some nasal spray with reasonable results.

Agree with the other poster though, GP is definitely the first step before you really do lose your wits!

Weight-gain is the obvious villan. Men pack it in around their necks and it constricts their breathing, so diet and a visit to the GP to check for Sleep Aponea would be first step.

There's a device which is a bit like a gum-shield rugby players use - sleeppro and it really works. Don't get the more expensive one because it needs changing every 6 months or so, but it has (no exaggeration!) changed our lives.

And I no longer want to stab DH! Grin

Well, not for snoring anyway Wink
