Can anyone recommend me a cough medicine for a tickly night time cough for adults? I need something that'll help me sleep through it too. My pharmacy are crap, they only ever give me Covonia Grin

sometimes, if it is down to post nasal drip (gunk trickling down the back of your throat) then I've found that an antihistamine like clarityn can work.

Also I've read that good quality dark chocolate can help as it contains theobromine which supposedly is as good or even more effective than codeine for surpressing coughs.

Pholcodine
(available over counter ) has been recommended on a recent MN thread .
And Robitussin ( sp ? ) is supposed to be good .

Cough medicine doesn't work.

Try a huge spoonful of honey. It's very soothing and works for sore throats too.

Studies were done which concluded that honey was more effective.

Thanks for these guys. I hate honey, pholcodine doesn't work on me, but I may well try the benylin. Thanks again for replying!
