Yellow runny liquid from nose like a nosebleed but no blood!

I have suffered for the last couple of yrs with sinus infections every few weeks.

Recently (over Christmas) I had my last infection, had ABs and nose drops etc.... The infection seemed to clear up although I did get left with a horrible smoky smell in my nose.

Tonight I felt like I had a nosebleed, yet when I grabbed a tissue there was no blood but very runny yellow liquid (sorry TMI) this lasted about 40mins on and off. It seems to have stopped now but I still have the smoke smell - its like a stale cigarette smell.

Anyone had this before, is it just another infection?

Hi. I've had this happening since I was 25. I'm nearly 52.

About 4-5 years ago my sinus was really sore and I blew my nose really hard. All the yellow liquid that usually comes out running or dripping, just pored out and a sack was protruding from my nose. Apparently it's a polyp that is filling with the yellow liquid (I was told it's interstitial fluid).

Not sure if this is what is happening with others as well or that was just happening with me.

Smoky smell I've had before it's linked to sinus problems - yes it can be a brain tumor or Parkinson's also if u google but if you have sinus symptoms it's going to the simple answer I'm sure! I didn't even know I had a sinus problem tbh but i had it for the first time 3 years ago so I'm guessing I'd be in a worse way by now if it was serious ! It's happened to me once more since and I asked the doc and they didn't seem bothered !

Did you go to the dr or find out why you were doing this? I am just getting over a horrible cold and did this last night and google also has me terrified

Chronic rhinosinusitis.

Spoke to my doctor. He was worried until he saw the colour of the liquid. Said if it was definitely Chronic rhinosinusitis.

Nasal irrigation with saline is really helpful to keep in check.

I will probably need surgery to remove the polyp I have. My breathing is really bad through one side of my nose that the polyp is on.

Today I felt watery substance coming from my nose,it was a yellow substance.what causes it please
