Anyone ever taken Pregabalin?

Just been prescribed them for suspected nerve damage....just read the HUGE sheet of information and am glad i did....really dont think these are for me ...but not in an " i know better than the doctor" way....but I dont see how i can take them, and drive as much as i need to + carry on with my job...

Any experience?

IME it's VERY sedating initially (people have described the feeling as being 'knocked-off' or like a bad woozy hangover)

But it doesn't last long (well, after 2 weeks or so it's MUCH better)

But I've administered it to people with severe depression and anxiety so the dosages could be different... what dose have you been prescribed?

50mg twice a day

the drowsiness was one of my concerns....im hopeless with cocodamol and cant drive after taking just one 30/500

OK I think the dose given to those with an anxiety disorder is much higher than that (sorry, on Mat leave atm and can't remember anything specific anymore)

I'm pretty sure 100mg total daily dose is pretty low... but if you are sensitive to meds you may well feel pretty sedated

Any chance you can take some time off whilst you commence the treatment?

not a chance sadly...in the middle of a big project and am head honcho.....so have to set a good example iykwim...have just took 2 days with flu....cant afford anyone to get comfortable in my shoes for long

Sorry you are in such a predicament atm. Hope you can get a bit of success with the Pregabalin. Could you start 1st dose on Friday eve so have 2 days at least to get used to it a bit?

I have been on them for about 3 yrs for nerve pain. My consultant started me on 25mg twice and day for one week, then 50mg twice a day and so on. I felt a bit off for the first few days but afterwards felt fine. I have been on 75 mg twice a day for 3 yrs with a couple of episodes of 150 mg twice a day when my pain has been bad.

I have never had a problem driving, etc and I still have a couple of glasses of wine, however, I maintain I'm not as attentive as I was (although that might be an age thing!!)

I took them for a while for nerve damage and didn't get on with them at all. However lots of people get on just fine with them, we all react differently to drugs. The best thing to do would be to start them over a weekend and at night before bed for your first dose so you can gauage how you feel. None of the problems that I had with them involved drowsiness btw. Hope they help you.

they start at 25mg and go to 300mg capsules. i got such bad double vision at 100mg the doc was so scared he did a CT scan of my brain.

ne forgot to increase the dose slowly and went straint in at 100 mg. idiot!!!!!!!! it was really weird seeing double for 24 hours. made me feel really sick.
