Has anyone else been told that the only remaining supply of Celvapan expired on 31 December 2010, please?

I guess my next question is what of those with a severe egg allergy and asthma? My sister has been told she'll have to go into hospital for the vaccination - I guess this is the only course of action now. (She had the original vax but didn't have the booster so isn't covered now).

Yes she should have a full risk assessment and the benefits versus side effects weighed up first. It's very rare to have true anaphylaxis so may be possible to distinguish this from other strange adverse reactions that do not necessarily contra-indicate the vaccination. But certainly get this done in hospital where support facilities are immediately available.

Thanks again. Shall pass this on.

Update: the DoH have guidance and references under Q7 of the Q&A on this web page:

www.hpa.org.uk/web/HPAwebFile/HPAweb_C/1287147885006

In particular the GSK and Sanofi-Pasteur vaccines have very much lower ovalbumin (egg proteins) than other types.

Thank you again Musukebba. You're a mine of information!

Unfortuntaley the link doesn't work but I've sent it to my sister anyway, she'll perhaps be able to Google it.

Very interesting about the GSK and Sanofi-Pasteur.

Sorry mango; a space slipped into the web address (between the "7" and the "1").

Try here

That is absolutely fab. Thank you so much, Musukebba.
