I am in constant agony and to top it off am 37 weeks pregnant. Changing gear in the car hurts, trying to sit up is a marathon, taking deep breathes hurts and i can't sleep on my back so that's not helping either. It's been a week already and am dreading going into labour with this pain on top of it. Is there anything at all i can do to make it better?!? It's not the usual pregnancy baby kicking pain (wrong side) but it really feels like I've broken something - I'm sure I haven't though. I'm resting as much as possible as it is and had a ton of paracetamol over christmas for a really bad cough/cold and that's not making the pain/discomfort any better. Am I just doomed to suffer for weeks now?

YES! I have one - I got it through a bad coughing fit about 5 days ago - currently 36 weeks preg - and have been sleeping sitting up at dining room table with pillows propped on it - as I get up every two hours for a wee - and even if i can prop myself up in bed - getting out of it is too painful! In fact did worse damage in bed other night! But not sleeping in bed is playing havoc with my swollen feet too!

Anyhow - so far aside from Paracetamol and resting it (not streching etc) - my mum got me Deep Freeze patches which are OK when preg. and they've helped soothe it quite a bit.

but it's a bugger when you need to cough - so painful! And i'm the same - praying it goes before labour!

Spoke to doc about it - nothing to be done - just rest - but if it affects your breathing need to call them asap.

So - i can sympathise completely!

Yes, I thought I'd broken a rib with a bad cough when pregnant with DD1. Doctor said it was a strained intercostal muscle. Really painful. Take it easy.

can't believe it's justs from coughing, seems rediculous. i read deep heat type stuff could help so off to chemist to have a look. can't wait to be able to leap out of bed or roll over without grunting and groaning!
