Head cold entering 6th week

I have had a persistent head cold for 6 weeks now and it shows no sign of going. It means that I have no sense of smell and my sleep is disrupted as I often wake as a result of a blocked nose or mucus running down my throat.
I have made a doctors appt. but that isn't until next week. I am also 29wks pregnant which means most over the counter stuff is out of bounds. I just wonder if anybody else has had this and if so how can I avoid being fobbed off.

Is it possible that you have sinusitus - infected sinuses? My friend has had this a few times and had to get antibiotics to clear it.
I would google it and read up - if your symptoms are similar then you can attend your appointment fully "armed".
Hope you feel well soon.

thanks for your reply. My mother suggested that it could be sinusitis. I am still sneezing a lot and they do throb from time to time. I also have no sense of smell unless it is actually in my mouth.

I just want to get rid of it and have some sort of energy so I can sleep and get off the couch. The last thing I want is to be fobbed off with a sick note.

No great advice but sympathy. I've had a cold on and off (about three days in total off) for the last six weeks. I've never had anything like it in my life!

I feel your pain, honestly, I do!!
I'm not pregnant but sinusitis makes my life a misery.
Try this massage, it is really effective. Go to the doctors too. Invest in a Neti Pot
Good luck, I hope you soon feel better.

sounds more like rhinitis of pregnancy.
