any ideas what this could be??

I awoke yesterday morning to find lots of tiny hard red spots surrounded by white all over the backs of my hands, clustered around the lower half of my fingers.

Upon further investigation they are also all over the tops of my thighs (on the front)

I wasn't feeling well generally and have had a cold/sore throat for weeks.

Anyway today, full on cold, very itchy raised spots and they have spread up my arms and down my legs. Nothing on my torso. They are not painful at all and once i start scratching they itch but are ok at other times.

My hands were very very dry xmas day as i was washing up lots and shouldn't cos i know that washing up liquid and soap in general does this.

I haven't used anything 'new' and just don't understand it.

Any ideas?

Oh it will be a virus. Really honestly I am sure it is (not a doctor but is the stock answer!). My nephew had this similar a week or so ago and he was told that a virus can present itself in many ways - high temp or spots. Not much use, sorry!

I was also going to suggest viral rash, - they come on quite quickly, - and go fairly quickly as well (in a few days).

thank you. i have now stopped thinking it is something more sinister

turns out it is an allergic reaction to something. Got cream and antihystamins (sp)

What sort of allergy just gives spotty rash on hands and legs i'll never know, but apparently that's what it is.
