Dsis aged 61 years has been having some regular monthly bleeding, period pain and cramps; outcome of a hysteroscopy was that nothing sinister found and her consultant has now told her that her monthly periods have restarted, 10years after the menopause and if she were to become pregnant she wouldn't be the oldest expectant mother in the world!

Get over yourself Herecomes- are you really a scientist?

My "relationship" for want of a better word with my specialist is that of a highly qualified gynae, who specialises in the menopause, and a patient. And he takes time to talk to me in detail, as he has been my consultant for 3 years.

Don't patronise me.

If you can find one other dr who believes it is normal to start periods again after 10 yes, 10 years , and to tell a patient they have come back and she could get pregnant-then find them please.

I know he has done the necessary investigations- it was not the fact that they showed no abnormalities that worrried me, but the extrapolation that she was perfectly healthy now and could even possibly conceive.

Had he simply said it was "unexplained" and follow up in 3 months I may have been less "hysterical".

And the more I thought on it, the more mad it seemed.

I don't know why you find it necessary to be personal and offensive. The comments were not aimed at you were they?

I think that you will find by law you are entitled to a second opinion. Sometimes though you do have to be a bit boulshy with doctors. If you are not happy then certainly a letter of complaint ASAP. Also, if you do start to bleed again and it is getting heavier then go to your local A+E department. They will get you seen by a gaen doc.

It shouldn't be possible. You need an urgent appointment with a gynecologist. This is very abnormal. These are not real periods but something mimicking them and that something could be sinister.
