My dd is 11 weeks old and has some other health problems.
She is EBF, and has problems choking wenever iv tried formula.

Took her to hospital last week as she had a very high temp and is constantly sleepy and they told diagnosed broncialitus.

The thing is as I have said she has dropped so much in weight im quite worried, she just looks so scrawny compared to other babies her age, she is so pale and always looks ill.

The whole thing is getting me down, the health visitors are no help atal and she sems to be sliping thru the net with the hospital.

Just wanted to know if any of the mumsnetters out there have had these weight problems before?

Have you been to your GP? If your first GP did nothing try another. Trust your instincts!

Has she taken expressed milk in a bottle?

My dd had similar problems with losing alot of weight due to reflux and I was worried at how scrawny she was. I was bfing but combined it with Hipp organic formula, after trying several others, and I bought some teats for premature babies which meant the flow was very slow. Just thought this might help with the choking as some teats even for newborns flow very fast. After a while the formula helped with her putting alot of weight back on.
Go back to your GP. Im surprised the hospital are not monitoring her properly as they took my dd's weight loss seriously. Good luck

i sympathise, yes do go with your insinct its and insist on getting help from your gp and hv. if you have private health insurance, get referred to a paed asap. does your dd have wet nappies, does her skin look hydrated?

are you expressing milk also? worth trying to see what you get and to use it to top her up. however i second what ella says and combining a bit of formula will help get her weight back up. don't give up on bottles try different bottles/teats, medela and dr browns are a couple i can think of that are good for babies who don't do bottles well and as ella says it could be the teat you tried was too fast, or maybe too slow? its trial and error. important thing is your dd is feeding and is having wet nappies.

good luck honey.
