Is there anyone around for abit of advice? i think dd has thrush in her mouth and im not sure what to do about it!???

Dd is 10mo and im almost certain she has thrush in her mouth, im still breastfeeding her, and i dont know how it works but my breasts are hurting a little, is it coincidence? i doubt any Dr's will be open will they? what should i do? if anything???

ds had this just after he was born. I would start by phoning the out of hours service or NHS Direct (they may be the same thing). They can fax a prescription over to an open pharmacy - there will be one, even on Boxing Day.

It's too long to wait for normal services to resume with there being two bank holidays coming up. Phone them and see what they say.

You will need to take her to the doctors (and yourself too) but TBH if she's feeding OK it should be fine to wait until tomorrow.

The doctor will probably prescribe an oral gel and treatment for your breasts too (as it's likely that the thrush will have crept in there too). Keep an eye on her bum - it's quite possible she'll get thrush there too, it appears as an awful nappy rash, but again, it quite easy to treat especially if you get to it quickly.

Oh, OK, I din't realise there were bank holidays coming up in the UK (none here), yes, do phone the OOH service / NHS Dirct.

Thankyou, i havent been able to get to see any dr today, but will try again tommorow, it shouldnt deteriorate too quickly will it??

My ds' did but he was a newborn. Did you call NHS Direct?
