Dental Absess

I'm 6 months pregnant and I've got a dental absess on the front of one of my teeth. It doesn't hurt at all and regularily bursts. It's been there at least 4 months and doesn't show any signs of spreading etc. I've been to see my dentist and he said it would be OK to wait to have treatment after I've had the baby. I'm concerned however that I've looked it up online and many people say it is dangerous to have an absess during pregnany as the infection can spread into the blood and therefore harm the baby. Has anyone had a similar problem and can advise?
