I am at my wits end at the moment and keep feeling as though I am being pushed from pillar to post and getting nowhere at all.

Original thread is here.

I went to gp's - they did an ecg and heart was fine but pulse a bit fast. Gave me more anti bi's for sinus infection and then told me that they think a lot of it is anxiety.

I know its not anxiety - being ill is making me anxious but its not being anxious that is making me ill.

I have had an awful weekend. Friday night really dizzy, weak and pumping heart. I had these pains again under ribs and at top of stomach. Sometimes in shoulders too but not as bad there.

By Saturday I couldn't get out of bed all day, too dizzy and weak to walk. I got up Saturday night then went back to bed still feeling ill. Didn't eat all day.

Yesterday I felt a bit better, wasn't as dizzy. Ate something late afternoon and got stomach pains again so went to bed.

I woke this morning at 5.30. Really hot and being sick. It has worn off again now but still dizzy and having pains in stomach/ribs.

I have googled a bit and am wondering if pancreatis or hiatus hernia. I know for sure that all this is not just a sinus infection and anxiety. Has anyone every had any of these? What are your symptoms?

Just feel as though the doctors are not taking me seriously. I have been back and forth so many times but getting nowhere. Also all my family don't live near me. I don't want to end up in hospital here at all. I am wondering whether to get up to where they are and just go to A&E there - they will have to run tests then surely and see what is wrong with me. I can't cope with this dizziness and pain all the time.

Has anyone got any advise they could offer? Really am desparate now.

Please get a second opinion. My mum was back and forward for ages with similar symptoms, was fobbed off, and was finally diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. Thankfully that diagnosis was wrong, she had a very rare benign growth in her gallbladder duct - which would have killed her (by complete blockage of the duct) had we not insisted on a second opinion. It was removed and she's been fine ever since. Please get this sorted.

ElspethDiggory · 14/12/2010 20:18

How are you KF? Hopefully, being diagnosed right now.

kuckingfunt · 14/12/2010 20:40

Thanks for asking Elspeth.

I have been a tiny bit better today. Haven't been sick and a little less dizzy. Also started eating - only soup but its something.

I am being picked up tomorrow and going to A&E to get to the bottom of it all.

Good. It's definitely the right thing to do. Also, without scaremongering, if the predicted bad weather does set in, you don't want to be stranded at home being so poorly and not being able to get to someone who can help. Let us know how it goes tomorrow. Good luck Smile

kuckingfunt · 14/12/2010 20:54

Yes, I have heard about the predicted weather, so its all good that I will get sorted tomorrow.

So glad you may soon have answers, and good luck tomorrow.

alypaly · 14/12/2010 23:54

it sounds more as if you have an infected gall bladder. my neighbour had one and she had similar symtoms. go and get it seen to as soon as poss as it could mean the difference between keyhole or open surgery.

stay away from fatty foods and dairy and see if that helps.

blinks · 15/12/2010 00:08

yes, could well be a peptic ulcer but also could be many other things... you need to be seen again. i'm surprised you've not had whole abdo scanned. it'd be best if you're seen asap especiallt as there's poss cardiac involvement.

ElspethDiggory · 15/12/2010 19:30

KF - are you home? How did it go today? Maybe you'll be in hospital reading this whilst being treated Smile Hope you are ok.

sharbie · 15/12/2010 19:37

good luck today - i was going to suggest peptic ulcer too - hope it is as they are fairly simple to treat.

kuckingfunt · 16/12/2010 17:53

Well I am back. At last, they are taking it seriously! Been to a different hospital who are quite shocked that I have been dismissed by my own gp as having a sinus infection!

They are sure I have an ulcer and have given me meds to treat that now. Also ordered an urgent MRI brain scan and ENT appointment. Fingers crossed I am getting somewhere. Also given different meds for the dizziness so lets hope they wrok - serc tablets.

I had to call my own GP to get the referral - they are proving to be more useless by the minute. They said they think I may have a neck problem now (after a brief chat on the phone) and are not sure they want to refer me. This is after I told them I have seen someone else who wants these tests done. A neck problem? Why do they suddenly think that 2 months on, and if they do, why havent they treated it?

I am going to stay here and get sorted now though. Must admit I am very scared about urgent brain scan - now convinced I have a brain tumour......aaaarggggh this is awful!

Thank goodness they are taking you serviously (at last) KF! I can't believe your GP though, neck problem Xmas Shock Xmas Shock?! Very bizarre behaviour. Have they agreed to refer you now?

ElspethDiggory · 16/12/2010 18:34

Oh and don't worry about the brain scan. I saw a neurologist a while ago. She said the first test they always order is an MRI to rule all the worst stuff out before they can get to the bottom of what the problem is, it isn't an indicator that they think it is a terrible problem, they just need to rule that out.

kuckingfunt · 16/12/2010 20:36

No Elspeth they haven't agreed to refer me - they are now saying they want faxed info from the hospital first so they can see why they suggest referring me. 2 months of unexplained dizziness obviously isn't enough with the stomach problems too. So another day wasted while I try and get the referral.

The hospital today said if my gp won't refer me then I should just temporarily register with one in this area who will refer me. Its crazy - no idea why my own gp wont do it - the tests wont even be done in the same healthcare region.

make sure you're tested for Helicobacter pylori as it can be a cause of ulcer.

what medication have they started you on?

gastric and duodenal ulcers can cause dizziness so it may all be caused by the same thing. best to rule out any other cause though so MRI good idea. it doesn't last long and if you can relax, it's loud but bearable... they ask you to keep your eyes closed which helps.

any black tarry stools or coffee grounds/blood in vomit, get seen at A&E asap.

kuckingfunt · 17/12/2010 14:54

I'll ask for that test blinks.

I have been given omeprazole for my stomach and serc-16 for the dizziness. The serc seems to be working at the moment, so lets hope its good stuff.
