This week, for the first time ever, I've developed a cold sore. Well, two by the looks of things. This is despite being with DP, cold sore sufferer, for years and years.

In the last couple of days I've also developed MASSIVE lymph nodes under my chin and in my neck and they are properly sore, it feels like my neck is all bruised.

Is that all part of the cold sore thing then? Or am I in for the cold from hell too ...?

I suffer from coldsores and have never had swollen glands with a coldsore. That is something I get when I get a cold or sore throat or something along those lines.

However, if you have never had a coldsore before then I expect your body is fighting the virus and maybe why the glands are swollen.

Coldsores are truly awful though aren't they. Get your self some Zovirax or similar cheaper boots own brand cream.

Thanks. DP doesn't get big glands much at all whereas mine swell at the slightest thing. So I couldn't use him as a yardstick! It's quite impressive now, I have no neck Confused

sees that glands can come up with a primary coldsore infection I hope you feel better soon.

Great link OYBK, thanks for that. Feeling decidedly ropey now so that'll be why. Bit shit managing to escape it for 8 years then getting it now!

Dear god I'm ill today. My lymph modes are like tennis balls, half of the inside of my mouth is raw and so swollen that my teeth don't meet and I've now got 3 sores on my lip. Plus fever. I look well attractive. Am going to hold this against DP for sure!

I think you ought to go to the GP when coldsores are that bad they will prescribe antibiotics. I've been there before when I can't even eat or drink because of the pain and the coldsores have become infected.

I have suffered from the bloody things for as long as I can remember and I also get impetigo which is the worst thing ever. But luckily my DH has never had one. I really hope DD doesn't get them either.

Please go to the GP :)

Thanks. I really don't think there's bacterial infection. And I feel a bit better now I've had ibuprofen. But if I'm still rough tomorrow I'll give the GP a call. Can't face hearing "it's a virus" today Grin

Is it hard to breathe with your glands the size they are? I feel for you.

In the meantime keep on with the ibuprofen and get DH to run you a nice bath :)

It's his fault after all! Grin

No but it hurts to swallow. Picked up some mini rolls earlier in the hope that they might be soft enough to facilitate chocolate ingestion but it was a slog tbh.

Posted in child health too because I've read some threads on here and I'm really worried about DD getting it, she's only a tot :(
