Quick question about the Mirena Coil.

Had the Mirena coil put in yesterday afternoon. Had a bit of bleeding and cramping but not too bad.

Tried to feel the strings to check it was in place this morning and can't feel a thing. The Dr did tell me that I have "a very long vagina for such a short little lady" (Hmm) and I do have very short fingers so it's possible I just can't feel that far up.

Is it worth going back to the GP and checking it's fitted properly or will it be fine? TIA.

Wait a week or two - and use other contraception in the meantime.

I also am 'long', and couldn't feel the strings at first. I think maybe for some women it takes a while for everything to settle down. I found it easiest to reach while sitting on the loo.

You should have a checkup scheduled for 5-6w time, to ensure it is satisfactorily in place.

Can you reach to your cervix? That is where the threads will be. Probably curled round it not dangling down. My dr described it as feeling like the 'end of a nose' (?!)

I have never been able to reach my cervix, and my GP deliberately left the strings slightly longer than usual in order to make it easier for me to check. I had forgotten this.

Just feel your cervix. They will be dangling out of that.
