Do you have irregular or absent periods? How old are you?

menopause · 26/09/2005 17:17

my baby is under a year old, and no periods have returned yet. I am in my late 20's.

have you had your thyroid checked?

menopause · 26/09/2005 17:20

No. Feel a bit silly. Do i just go to the doctor and say i am having hot flushes and night sweats? Thats about all thats happening really.

I think these flushes might be classed as normal after having a baby.. I didn't have them myself but I have hard it said lots of times before.

You are not have any kind of anxiety attack are you? This can cause hot flushes.

Are you breastfeeding? This keeps periods at bay for a while. (Although does not prevent pregnancy reliably.. she says with feeling! )

Thanks Sleepyjess. Will get a doctors appointment soon to discuss this.

It is really very, very, very rare to have your menopause this early. But it is quite common to have a thyroid imbalance after having a baby.
Are you breastfeeding? As someone else said, that keeps periods at bay.
