Anyone else doing the Breakthrough generations breast cancer study?

I've filled in the mega questionnaire and sent the bloods off today.

It was very strange filling in the questionnaire as I had to talk about my 2 miscarriages and my late dad and sis.

It was a bit of a reality check too when I was asked what age I started smoking and had to put 10 and drinking at 14 Stopped smoking at 21 though and only drink moderately or not at all now.

I've still not received my form, over a year later. They have been seriously inundated.

Sorry it was painful for you Ulysees; very worthwhile though.

Yup me too (doing the study, not started smoking at 10 ). Sent off the bloods, still finalising the questionnaire, bit difficult finding a time when dh can measure the length of my arm or whatever it is!

Btw, there was a report on the news today that left-handed people are more likely to get breast cancer? Yet this isn't one of the questions they're asking. I guess they can't cover everything.

I have filled in my form but am not sure just how accruate it is... I can not remember things about my life from 20 minutes ago never mind 20 years.... 20 years ago I was 20 and I never took much attention to things like my weight, lenght of period etc... I just got on with things and these sort of happened alongside... hope my guesses don't upset teh study...

don't know about you tribpot but I think the left handed thing is probably a load of tosh! My mum mentioned this today and I said last week they were saying women with lots of stress are less likely to get breast cancer. Hmmmm....

Forgot to say my aunty died in her 30s of breast cancer and had to put that on the QA. That wasn't very upsetting though as I barely knew her. Sad for her family though.

You're right, they can't ask everything, and of course the questionnaires have to be consistent throughout, so they can't just add things in when new associations turn up. And of course the more you test for, the more false associations you get....

yes mancmum, I found remembering age 20 a bit difficult but had a good guess. I know how old I was when I started my periods though as I told everyone I was a woman at last!!

I've just sent my bloods off today too - the mega questionnaire took me weeks to fill out in dribs and drabs as and when I had time - didn't realise until the end that you have to date it to say when you filled the questionnaire out - hope I haven't screwed it up by filling it in over time. Can't remember many time specific questions though? Oh well!

I'm requesting to see my medical records because I can't remember when I've been off and on different pills. Also not sure if I've ever had an Xray. Bit daft really but there you are.

Took me ages to get around to measuring my waist and hips. Not good news - but at least they were different numbers
