I have had abdominal pain and vomiting since yesterday afternoon - not been sick today but still in pain.
no appointments at dr (you have to ring at 8am) unless its an emergency but dont feel I can drag 2 kids down there at 6pm

any remedies I could take?

feel like sh#t
fortunately DH is coming home early

Try taking some paracetamol?

PrettyCandles · 26/09/2005 14:20

Don't put a hot water bottle on your tummy - it could aggravate whatever it is. Have you any lavender essential oil? The smell is quite relaxing and may ease the pain a little. Have you eaten or drunk? Can you keep anything down? It's important to keep yourself hydrated. Try sipping some flat Coke - it needs to be the ordinary sort, not sugar-free - and you can give it a good stir with a metal spoon to flatten it.

Will your dh be home early enough for you to get yourself to the GP? Or could you book yourself an emergency appt for tomorrow? If you have a temp or your belly is tender, then you really ought to be seen.

We parents are not allowed time off sick .

Hope you feel better soon.

Dh wont be home in time for DR but will be home to put kids to bed. Will ring DR first thing if still in pain.

Havent eaten much today as felt so sore - have managed to keep down some water though
Really sore tongue too - covered in blisters so that it hurts to eat

Thankfully DD went to bed after lunch for 2 1/2 hrs and DS & I fell asleep on the sofa so that helped.

what a pathetic reck I am....

Nothing pathetic - you don't sound well .

It is rough when you have to keep going for the children. Thank goodness for afternoon naps!

Hope things are a bit better today.

MrsMiggins · 27/09/2005 20:53

Gastrointestinal something or other caused by stress. Mouth ulcers caused by not eating properly.
2 lots of pills and some horrible mouth wash and telling off by Doctor to sort myself out (in a nice way)

at least DH is looking after me now I have a physical illness

Bug going round, my son has had it, i now have it, my mother now has it, my sister is giving it half of Scotland.

Good news is it only lasted 24 hours with eldest.

MrsMiggins · 27/09/2005 21:26

this one is going around - ds and i have had it. ime, it goes in 3 days. i took paracetamol and codeine for the pain which helped.

PrettyCandles · 28/09/2005 14:03

Poor you.

Can your dh cook? If he can, then get him to work filling the freezer with cooked meal portions for you. You obvioulsy need some TLC right now.

Rinsing your mouth with very warm (almost hot) with as much salt as will disolve in it is very good for mouth ulcers - just be careful to spit it all out!

PrettyCandles · 28/09/2005 14:03

Very warm what? Milk? Whisky?

I meant very warm water, of course.

MrsMiggins · 28/09/2005 17:39

Thanks PrettyCandles - I will try the salty water.

TLC??
you've obviously not seen me on the "Affairs" thread in Relationships

DH is staying away as usual tonigth & tomorrow night in a hotel so no TLC for me

still feel rough although feel worse when get stressed by DH on the phone so thinking of not answering it tonight instead

Back to Doctors on Friday - he mentioned something about an endeoscope (cant spell & wasnt listening properly) so dont know what thats all about Confused

An endoscope is a camera on a bendy stick that a doctor (usually in a hospital, with you under light sedation) puts in your throat for you to swallow so that she can look at your stomach / gut to see what's wrong.

MrsMiggins · 28/09/2005 18:54

thats what I thought he said - but why would he mention that?
seems a bit odd to give me medicine and then see me again - I suppose hes hoping the medicine will make me better.

think I just need a new husband

thanks for your comments anyway

Sorry - put my foot in it there.

I leave my phone on answerphone all the time so that I can vett callers if I want to. (And much as I love my mum I don't always want to talk about whatever it is. I don't know how I'm going to get away with saying that I leave the answerphone on because I can't drop everything if I'm in the middle of changing a nappy, once dd is toilet-trained! )

As for the endoscopy, he may think that you have a stomach ulcer. What medicine did he prescribe?
