my oh used to get sciatica when he was in his early 20's but has not suffered for about 6 years. he was loading his car on sunday and complained of back pain for about an hour afterwards. he then went to get dressed and when he was bending to put his socks on his back went completly. he managed to get onto the couch but was stuck and could not move due to the pain. he actually had tears in his eyes. i ended up calling an ambuance and he was taken to the local hospital. they gove him diazipan and after about 4 hours he was mobile again although still in alot of pain. the hospital sent us home with cocodamol and told him that he should have tramadol but they were nto able to perscribe it and he would have to get it from his GP. i managed to get the GP to perscribe tamadol over the phone today. he has only had one dose. he has not had a scan and the hospital just said it was either a trapped nerve or a muscle spasm.
should he have a scan? he is in such alot of pain.
