Anyone had an adverse reaction from Tetanus jab (as an adult)?

I had my Tetanus jab on Friday due to getting a particularily nasty bite from my cat, and my last Tetanus jab was about 9 or 10 years ago.

Since Saturday I have been feeling very achy, especially around my back & chest. It has gradually gotten worse & now my whole body aches, as well as having a semi high temperature.

Ds3 has got his first set of jabs due tomorrow, so at least I can speak to the same nurse that did mine then about the side effects.

Did you get any antibiotics? Cat bites are notorious for transmitting bacterial infections and could be responsible for why you're feeling so unwell.

I had an adverse reaction from Tetanus jab as an adult. I got the jab after a dog bite. The jab was followed by a very high temeperature, an achy body and a bright red itchy back. I phoned the docs and they said that I probaby have a sore throat, since a reaction like that cannot be from a Tetanus jab.

It does sound like a reaction but doctors are very reluctant to admit vaccine reactions so you may not get very far with that. Was the wound cleaned well? Does it show any signs of infection?

Thanks for your replies.

I saw the same nurse a couple of days ago & she said that it sounds like I had a reaction to the jab.

The bite has healed up very well now, so luckily no sign of infection either.

When my friend was bitten by her cat, she was given rabies jabs... Four of them,I think, over a few months.
