Barium swallow reaction :( ...????

At 3pm yesterday I had a barium swallow. Since 2pm I've been sick twice, everything hurts especially my lower back. Earlier it was my abdomen.

I'm feeling like shit. I spoke to doc and he says I've got ibs so given me motiulium, buscopan and suppositories although ive had diarrhea so not used them yet.

Is this a reaction from the barium???? I hurt and feel very low. I've had problems nice my bub was 3 months old and was on loads of pain relief. I want my health back. :(

I trained as a radiographer and I've never heard of a reaction to a swallow. Did you make sure that you had extra to drink afterwards and have been eating to flush it all through? It can settle and thicken, it sounds like this has happened.

I drank straight after it. I have eaten but I can this afternoon cos I feel to poorly but I'm drinking as much as I can without being sick. My back is agony now.

I don't know what to do with myself. Should I phone the emergency doc again?

Well a lot better thank you. I was in absolute pain at 2am so decided to go to the emergency doc who thought that I had Sciatica I had terrible back pain and leg pain.

He gave me some anti sickness drugs and some pain relief and sent me on my way. I spent the morning in bed but felt heaps better by lunch time so could enjoy my son's birthday lunch and managed a little bit of food.

I still have a bit of joint pain all over and feel pretty shattered but I'm functioning now thank goodness.

I honestly think my system didn't like the barium. Thank goodness I only had a few mouthfuls.

I'm looking forward to getting the kids tucked up in bed and hitting the sack myself.....
