urgent angiography - two-week wait and counting

That's it in a nutshell. Husband admitted 10 days ago after 'episode', Cardiologists think acute coronary ischaemia, needs angios, will happen in next 48 hours. Then daily put-off till yesterday, now we're told middle of next week.

Just ventilating really. Apparently they can't staff their own catheter lab (PRUH Farnborough) so he has to go to King's. After all this, think I'd rather he went to King's anyway.

Anxious, miserable and grumpy. That's me btw. He's coping better.

Should I be complaining to MP/chief exec? Would it help?

Got to go & pick up dd now

Lots of specialities that cannot staff their wards. Complain to MP. If the hospital has advertised and no staff have applied for the jobs, do not know what the chief exec can do.

Probably due to lack of funding for training places.

Hope your dh gets his angio soon and recovers well.

I would be complainig too if it was my dh.

Not sure of exact details - but 12 months ago brother had heart attack and stents put in at Kings .
Episode few weeks later saw him at PRUH waiting ( it'll be today,it'll be tommorow ,the next day ) for angioplasty ( I think ) at Kings .
I think in the end he went home to wait .
There seemed to be very poor communication between the hospitals .
It can't be right for there to be so much doubt about when it will be done .
My brother lost weight ( that he could ill afford ) because they kept putting him on nil by mouth in case he would be going that day .
I wish I knew what to advise - talk to PALS ?
Can his GP talk to anyone - could the GP have him transferred to Kings ?
Local MP ? Local newspaper ?
Maybe keep notes and complain when it's over - I know it's hard to find mental strength when you're in the thick of it .

And ,um ,not wishing to cause anxiety but my ybrother had to have some kind of device clamped to his groin because of bleeding after procedure .It should have only be left on for 1/2 hour but was mistakenly left overnight and he had to have morphine because it was so painful .
So make sure they don't make same mistake .
Kings are v.good in emergencies ( tho I think St.Thomas's is an even better hospital )
Good luck and keep strong !
Take him food in while he's at PRUH .
